Ninfe Light

Anne Lass Solo Exhibition
2025.09.11 - 2025.10.31

In Anne Lass’s images, space is not merely recorded physical reality but an evoked state of consciousness. Through her lens, she transcends the boundaries of composition and colour, weaving architecture, landscapes, and man-made environments into a visual narrative about seeing, time, and disappearance. Her works are serene yet penetrating, like fragments of memory frozen at the edge of fading—whispering stories of how the world unravels and endures.

This exhibition, Ninfe Light, brings together works from three of her core series:

• "777" immerses us into retro-futuristic entertainment spaces—neon-lit corridors and dim interiors that resemble lost scenes from a David Lynch film, where light no longer reveals but seduces and disorientates.
• "Low Season" captures the winter silence of Danish island villages, where landscapes seem devoid of spectators and spaces lose their function, leaving only a gaze upon "absence."
• "Exterior" strips away figuration further, constructing an unfamiliar order through colour and form. The recurring patterns emerge like fragments of a linguistic system—rooted in the everyday yet detached from it.

“Ninfa", derived from a nature spirit of classical mythology, embodies a fluid being of imagery—an elusive energy flickering between history and reality. The German art historian Aby Warburg regarded the Ninfa as an ever-resurging emotional motif in art history, a visual ghost drifting through the afterimages of culture. In Anne Lass’s works, this "visual energy" finds a contemporary vessel. Here, light is no longer just a technical tool of photography, but a sentient protagonist—shifting, fragmentary, drifting between space and memory—leaving us uncertain whether what we see is real or a simulacrum within the image.

In this exhibition, what we encounter is not simply empty corridors, fractured symbols, or a silent winter, but a way of seeing that is slowly vanishing—one that requires pause, patience, and the acceptance of uncertainty. Perhaps Ninfe Light does not reside in the light itself, but in the warmth it leaves behind after its fleeting passage.

• 《777》将我们引入复古未来主义的娱乐空间,那些霓虹下的走廊与昏暗室内,仿佛大卫·林奇电影中遗失的场景,光线在这里不再揭示,而成为引诱与迷惑的陷阱;
• 《Low Season》记录了丹麦海岛村庄冬季的寂静,风景仿佛失去了观众,空间也失去了功能,仅剩一种对“缺席”的凝视;
