Chen Jiayi

Born in Guangzhou, China in 1992. He graduated from Cambridge College of Art in 2015 and from the Department of Photography, School of Communication, University of the Arts London in 2016.

The impulse behind Jiayi's works was a primal urge to reconnect with the earth, drawing extensively from ethnic mythological imagery and delving deep into the folklore of southern towns to gather aesthetic materials. His aim was to seamlessly blend theatrical construction, lighting, and innovative photographic techniques to place mythology within an imagistic realm, transitioning from overt allegory to universal symbolism. His works do not merely depict specific mythological figures; rather, they embody the mythic spirit born from the land itself, and directly respond to individual myths in the contemporary context with broad symbols.

陈嘉屹

1992年出生于中国广州，2015年本科毕业于英国剑桥艺术学院，2016年研究生毕业于伦敦艺术大学传媒学院摄影系。

陈嘉屹作品的创作源于一种回归大地的原始意识，他广泛取材于民族神话意象，并深入到南方的乡镇里，在那些遗存的民俗中收集美学材料。他力图结合戏剧构造，灯光与创作性的拍摄手法将神话置入一个影像化的世界图景里，让其从渐显性的寓意言说迈向必然性的全体象征 。他的作品所呈现出的不是具体的神话形象，而是诞生于土地的神话精神, 并裹挟着广泛象征直面回应当代语境下的个体迷思。
